Abstract
The rare earth niobate‐calcium molybdate systems are one class of a number of pseudobinary systems which can be described by the general formula , where , Sc+3 and Y+3, , Ta+5, and , W+6. Calcium, furthermore, may be replaced by Sr+2 and Ba+2. For some of these compositions, lattice parameters and intensity of fluorescent emission have been determined as a function of x. Single crystals were grown by the Czochralski technique, and the distribution coefficients were determined for a number of niobates in calcium molybdate. Stimulated emission was obtained from a 3 in. long doped crystal.
