Abstract
1. Procaine amide ethobromide (PAEB) is actively secreted into rat bile unchanged and also in a conjugated form. 2. The conjugate was shown to be identical with synthetic N-acetyl procaine amide ethobromide (APAEB) by thin-layer chromatography, Sephadex gel filtration, and comparisons of hydrolysis rates. 3. It is suggested that APAEB would be a useful model compound for studying the hepatic transport of organic cations. Keywords
