Abstract
Using age‐specific and sex‐specific values for serum cholesterols, triglycerides and triceps and subscapular fatfolds, it is evident that there is a systematic relationship between level of fatness and lipid levels at all ages and in both sexes. Under these circumstances, the fatness factor may well exaggerate family‐line similarities in lipid levels (previously interpreted as genetic in nature), but at the same time the extent of genetic involvement may obscure the true relationships between the degree of fatness and lipid levels. Keywords
