RELATING ORGANIC MATTER AND CLAY CONTENT TO THE MULTISPECTRAL RADIANCE OF SOILS

Abstract
The correlation between spectral response (relative reflectance) from soils and the organic matter and clay content was investigated. Statistical models were developed that can utilize data obtained from an airborne multispectral scanner to estimate the quantity of organic matter and clay in the surface soil. These models can be implemented on a digital computer to produce maps delineating soils with different levels of organic matter or clay content. © Williams & Wilkins 1972. All Rights Reserved.
