Abstract
An investigation has been made of the flow over axisymmetric spiked bodies at a Mach number of 6·8. For some ranges of the ratio of spike length to body diameter the flow was found to be unsteady. The effect of the shape of the body nose on this unsteadiness was investigated and an explanation of the mechanism of the oscillation is given. Keywords
