Study of Tumor Cell Populations by Monte Carlo Methods

Abstract
A method for calculating the growth of cell populations was developed with the aid of the Los Alamos digital computer. The digital computer is given a probability distribution for the intermitotic times and, by the Monte Carlo method, grows the hypothetical population, or "tumor", beginning with one cell. Three major distributions of the intermitotic times were explored, each representing widely different models of cell growth.
