Abstract
Osteogenesis was studied by simple fractures and by measured resections of the fibulas in rats and dogs. Identical points were picked on each side and the rates of healing followed by roentgeno-grams. One side served as the control, whereas the saphenous vein was ligated on the experimental side. This variation in the venous blood flow caused a delayed union as compared to the normal side. This was demonstrated by roentgenograms and by surgical exploration. Microscopic pictures showed only a difference in decree of calcification. No explanation for the delayed union was apparent at the time. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
