A Micromethod for the Determination of Clonazepam in Serum by Electron-Capture Gas-Liquid Chromatography

Abstract
An electron-capture GLC procedure for clonazepam is presented using methyl-clonazepam as internal standard. The method involves extracting 100 l buffered serum with benzene:ethyl acetate containing the reference compound. Residue from the extract is reconstituted with 20 l solvent and an aliquot is injected into the gas chromatograph without derivatization. Results from 328 determinations indicate a need for monitoring this antiepileptic drug.
