Abstract
1. In 1894 special observations were commenced with the object of determining the influence of its position on the records from the Kew water-dropping electrograph, and also of ascertaining whether any alterations were desirable. The results were discussed in a paper communicated to the Society in 1896. The experiments led to certain changes in the apparatus, and an auxiliary system of eye observations was introduced with the object of obtaining quantitative results possessing a definite significance.
