Abstract
One hundred fifty Bateman Universal Proximal Femur prostheses performed in a single orthopedic practice over a period of 48 months were reviewed. The prosthesis was primarily used to treat fractures, however, hip replacement arthroplasties for degenerative arthritis, failed Austin Moore prostheses and failed nails are included included as well. A Harris hip rating system was used to evaluate the results. The prosthesis was felt to offer definite advantages over the Austin Moore and Thompson prostheses, and the results were felt to approximate the customary total hip replacement arthroplasties. Keywords
