Abstract
In 12 solvent mixtures tried alpha-hydroxytryphan and kynurenine were inseparable, but the latter may readily be removed by ion exchangers because of its basicity. Tryptophan, alpha-hydroxy-tryptophan and 3-hydroxykynurenine are then readily separable with water-saturated m-cresol.
