Abstract
Coal consists of organic matter (mainly carbon with some hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen) and mineral matter (mainly iron and other silicates, carbonates, sulfides). Coal ash is the oxidised incombustible residue from the combustion of coal and is closely correlated with the mineral matter content. The quality of coal is largely dependent on the amount of the ash, sulfur and calorific value of the coal. Keywords
