Abstract
The fine and hyperfine structure of the 1s2s2p4Po state of lithium has been investigated using configuration-interaction wavefunctions, with a view to understanding which configurations are important. Good agreement is obtained with experimental values. Values obtained for the fine-structure splittings are E52/-E32/=0.926 cm-1; E52/-E12/=-1.797 cm-1. The question of the classification of the doubly excited 4Po states of lithium is discussed.
