Abstract
Lattice dynamical behaviour of “Off Diagonal Partially Disordered CuInS2” has been investigated in the range of 10 cm-1 to 400 cm-1 at 4.2 K by using Fourier transform spectroscopy. All the vibrational modes corresponding to the chalcopyrite structure are found to be absent; however new modes corresponding to local structural excitations have shown their appearance in far infrared absorption spectrum. Number and positions of these metamorphic modes are critically examined using group theory and conventional F–G matrix. It has been found out that in “Off Diagonal Disordered System”; like in amorphous semiconductors; there exists a short range coherence length for the vibrational modes giving rise to a phonon spectrum of molecular structure based on constitutional short range order. Keywords
