Abstract
The temperature variation of the Debye—Waller exponents for copper and gold are calculated using the electron gas model for the lattice dynamics of metals propounded by one of us earlier. The results of the calculation are compared with available x-ray measurements. Good agreement with the experimental data is obtained for gold, but not in the case of copper. Keywords
