Abstract
A zone of positive birefringence seen in sections through the dental enamel of some early carious lesions and described by Nishimura in 1926, has been shown to be due to the inhibition of air in certain areas where the small spaces have been opened up by the carious process. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
