Abstract
Perfluorobutenide ions, generated by the reaction of fluoride ion with hexafluorobut-2-yne, are trapped by reactive perfluoroaromatic compounds to give perfluorobutenyl derivatives. Further products (a diene and two isomeric trienes) are also obtained from pentafluoropyridine, and cyclisation accompanies reactions with tetrafluoropyridazine, leading to a novel diazaindene. Trifluoro-s-triazine gives no useful products and this is attributed to an electron-transfer process. Keywords
