The use of a vibrating wire viscometer in liquids

Abstract
A vibrating wire viscometer has been adapted to make it suitable for liquids by modification of an existing device used to measure viscosity in gases. The electronic parts concerning excitation of the wire and treatment of the signal were transformed. The modified apparatus thus allows absolute viscosity measurements with an accuracy of 1.5% from values of dilute gas viscosity to values of oil viscosity, a large range for which no other viscometer is well adapted.
