Fermion mass in three dimensions and the renormalization group

Abstract
The spontaneous generation of a parity-even mass for fermions in three dimensions is analyzed by using effective Lagrangians and the renormalization group. To leading order in , an expansion about dimensions predicts the spontaneous generation of mass for two or more flavors of four-component fermions.
