Abstract
The three-terminal capacitor method has been used to measure linear thermal expansion coefficients of single crystals of CoCl2.6H2O in the temperature range 15-42 °K. λ-type behaviour was found at the Néel temperature 228 ± 001 °K. The form of the expansion has been accounted for qualitatively in terms of superexchange interactions. The estimated precision of the measurements is ±6% for the principal values and ±1° for the orientation of the principal axes of the expansion tensor. Keywords
