Abstract
To the Editor: In the August 28, 1980 issue Watson and Tang conclude that the radioimmunoassay of prostatic acid phosphatase (RIA-PAP) is a poor screening test for prostatic cancer. We agree with this conclusion but disagree with the authors' premise. The authors equate the incidence of prostate cancer in men 75 years of age and older (500 cases per 100,000 men per year) with the prevalence of the disease.
