Comparative Studies in Rous Sarcoma. IV. Glucose Metabolism of Normal and Rous Sarcoma Virus-Infected Cells.

Abstract
Summary Chick embryo fibroblasts infected in vitro with RSV exhibit striking alterations in their metabolism which include a decrease in oxygen consumption, increase in glucose utilization and lactic acid production, and an increase in release of lactic dehydrogenase into the culture fluids under aerobic conditions. These changes are associated with the increased aerobic glycolytic activity of these cells which is characteristic of Rous sarcoma and other neoplastic cells.
