Abstract
Adducts have been formed between the alkali-metal salts of the title compounds and ligands devoid of hydrogen atoms which are acidic or are capable of forming hydrogen bonds e.g. 1,10-phenanthroline, or 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline. The stoicheiometry is 1 : 1, except for the o-nitrophenolates of sodium, potassium, rubidium, and caesium, to which two molecules of phenanthroline are added. No adducts were formed from alkali-metal salts of the related but nonchelating acids m- and p-nitrophenol.Keywords
