Improved Root-finding Methods Derived from Inverse Interpolation

Abstract

This paper generalizes work done by Chambers. Secant-type and Newton-type methods are derived. The orders of convergence are obtained and it is proved that these methods converge faster than the secant method and Newton's method respectively. Numerical results are presented.
