Abstract
A complete chemical balance of products of the citrulline phosphorylase reaction of S. lactis is presented. The data show that one mole of orthophosphate is required to degrade an equivalent of citrulline to ornithine, CO2 and ammonia. An equivalent of ATP is synthesized. Extracts of S. lactis release orthophosphate from ATP but not from ADP. The presence of an adenylate kinase system is indicated. Keywords
