Abstract
The self-diffusion of 42K in potassium has been measured between 0°c and 60°c. The temperature dependence of the diffusion coefficient is given by D= 0.31 ± 0.09 exp—(9750± 150/RT)cm2 sec−1. Because of the similarities between self-diffusion in potassium and sodium it is concluded that self-diffusion in potassium is also by a vacancy mechanism. Keywords
