Abstract
Thermodynamic distribution functions are defined in the semigrand isothermal–isobaric ensemble. It is shown that Hill's constant‐pressure solution theory can be rewritten in terms of these distribution functions. An expression for the solvent chemical potential for a two‐component solution is obtained using certain pair distribution functions and the intermolecular potential. A simple relationship between distribution functions and Stockmayer's concentration fluctuation term for the turbidity is derived. Keywords
