Glutathione Peroxidase in Some Ocular Tissues

Abstract

Glutathione peroxidase activity was estimated in the corneal epithelium, conjunctiva, lens and retina of rabbit and cattle eyes using an enzymatic optical method. The Michaelis constant of the enzyme for hydrogen peroxide was found to be below 1 × 10^––5_M H₂O₂ at physiological glutathione concentrations.
