Abstract
It is pointed out that conduction electron clouds screening the positive charges play an essential role in diffusion of positive muons in metals. At low temperatures, the diffusion is explained by taking account of electron scattering and overlap integral of conduction electron clouds around the positive muons. Moreover, by taking account of the overlap integral of the electron clouds over the whole temperature range, we can understand in a consistent way the temperature dependence of diffusion constant, such as the plateau in the low temperature limit, decrease in negative low power of T and increase in positive low power of T, with increasing temperature. Our analysis shows that the band motion is impossible in Cu and possible in Al at low temperatures. Keywords
