Abstract
An experimental investigation into the operation of tilting-pad thrust bearings has been carried out. The following experimental determinations have been made: film pressure distributions, film geometry, friction characteristics, and temperature distributions for a range of speeds, loads, operating temperatures (that is, viscosity), and pivot positions. An attempt has been made to correlate these results with existing theories. Keywords
