Abstract
The retention indices of a group of organotin compounds on three stationary phases have been determined. Little effect on the indices of alkanes have been shown by the compounds. Close correlation between boiling point and retention index on Apiezon was found. Distinct differences between saturated and unsaturated compounds appeared on polar columns. The average indices on polar columns divided by molecular weight were found to increase with increasing refractive index with only two exceptions. A continuous increase in the measured retention index was found to correlate with an increase in molar refraction. A calculated molar refraction may be used to estimate the retention index of most of the saturated compounds.Keywords
