Abstract
The authors investigate the microstrip excitation of unidirectional dielectric radiators (UDRs) in nonradiating dielectric waveguide (NRD) structures. A UDR is coupled through a small aperture to a microstrip line with its ground plane serving also as the shielding plane of the NRD structure. Measurement results show that the coupling efficiency is high and good matching can be easily achieved. Such a circuit configuration allows the effective integration of a planar millimetre wave M(H)MIC technique and NRD technique in one system for the best use of both techniques for different functions. Keywords
