Low Temperature Gamma Irradation Response Of Polymer Coated Optical Waveguides

Abstract
Experimental results are presented on the optical transmission properties of a pure fused silica core, polymer coated optical waveguide sheathed by three methodologies. The waveguides are examined during gamma ray (1.17, 1.33 MeV) exposure and at temperatures ranging from ambient to -60°C. Unsheathed optical waveguides, exposed previously, are reexamined and the effects of aging are compared to the sheathed examples.© (1984) COPYRIGHT SPIE--The International Society for Optical Engineering.
