Abstract
Treating the spins classically, we show that for β- the two-dimensional three-sublattice structure is unstable with respect to interlayer exchange couplings. The energetically most favorable structure is found to be incommensurate. Quantum-mechanical spin-wave calculations agree with the conclusions from the classical magnetic-structure calculations.
