Unitarity Relation for the Optical Potential

Abstract
It is shown that the impulse approximation of Watson satisfies many-body unitarity to within terms which represent scattering from two different target particles. A systematic development further defines the -order optical potential such that unitarity is satisfied to within scattering from different target nucleons.
