Decay of a New Isomer inTb154to High-Spin Levels inGd154

Abstract
Radioactive sources of Tb154 made by the Eu153(α,3n) and Gd155(p,2n) reactions have been studied with Ge(Li) and Si(Li) detectors. A new isomer (T12=22.5±1.5 h; spin and parity probably 7) has been found in Tb154. This state decays primarily to an IπK=77 isomeric state at 2137.8 keV in Gd154. Quasiparticle configurations involving the 112[505] neutron orbital are proposed for both of these isomeric states, and retardation factors are determined for transitions from the 2137.8-keV state.
