Abstract
OLIOMYELITIS vaccine has been shown to be effective in the prevention of paralytic poliomyelitis when administered in 3 1-ml. doses over three months, as in the 1954 field trial,1 or currently in 3 doses over seven months.2 Under certain circumstances it would be desirable to provide such immunity rapidly for persons who have not completed a 3-dose immunization schedule. It is the purpose of this paper to record the rapid production of antibodies in persons given a single injection of 10 ml. of poliomyelitis vaccine produced in 1958.Materials and MethodsThree groups were used in the study.
