Action of Ouabain upon Normal and Hypodynamic Myocardium.

Abstract
Ouabain (G-strophanthin) increased the force of contraction isolated of hypodynamic guinea pig ventricular strips in phosphate medium. A positive inotropic response also occurred in strips which were not hypodynamic, i.e., "fresh" preparations in phosphate medium, and strips in bicarbonate medium, indicating that the hypodynamic state was not essential for the demonstration of the increased force of contraction.
