Abstract
Sera of healthy and ill people with different diagnoses were investigated for their reactivity to antigens isolated from 6 serotypes A-E2 (subspecies) of B. fragilis in indirect hemagglutination tests. These investigations were conducted partly in Poland and partly in The Netherlands. In many cases antibodies towards several serotypes of B. fragilis were present in the healthy. In The Netherlands antibodies to serotypes C and E2 were found; in Poland serotypes D and E1 predominated in the healthy. Some reactivity towards other serotypes also could be observed. Hemagglutination titers in sera of the ill were frequently increased. The sera were also reactive to serotypes which were absent or rare in the healthy. Sera of patients with carcinoma or sarcoma displayed high titers and reactivity to those serotypes which are absent or rare in the healthy. This publication has 7 references indexed in Scilit:
