Abstract
The mass spectra of five cyclic ketones, recorded with high resolution, are given. The accurate mass of each ion was measured, thus enabling the empirical formula of each to be deduced. The spectra show the tendency of such compounds to give a large peak corresponding to loss of C2H4, C2H5, and C2H1O fragments from the molecular ions. (C3H3O) ions predominate in the single ring systems, the spectra of cis- and trans-β-decalone show marked differences. Keywords
