Abstract
This field study investigates the characteristics of internal communication stars, the characteristics of boundary spanning individuals, and the extent to which boundary spanning individuals span multiple communication boundaries. The characteristics of boundary spanning individuals were found to be contingent on their subunit's work and on the information boundary they span. There is substantial boundary role overlap. Keywords
