Abstract
In order to protect young blackwood transplants from browsing by buck, some psychological, chemical and mechanical protection measures were tested. All these measures, except for the mechanical ones, were completely unsatisfactory. Surrounding each individual plant by a tube of plastic mesh or wire netting, although expensive, practically eliminated any browsing damage.
