Abstract
Current western agricultural technology is based on an uninterrupted availability of fossil fuels such as natural gas and oil. However, in the decades ahead, necessary adaptations must take place because of our limited energy sources. Integrated pest management and agroecosystem integrated management strategies are viable alternatives to present, energy-dependent practices. Adaptations in agricultural technology will provide a new context for IPM in which the structure of regional food/energy systems can become a major component of pest control strategy. Keywords
