Larval Parasites and Other Natural Enemies of Lymantria Dispar (Lepidoptera: Lymantriidae) in Burgenland, Austria, and Würzburg, Germany

Abstract
Laboratory rearings of larvae of Lymantria Dispar (L.) collected periodically at hardwood forests in Burgenland, Austria, during 1974-1975, and near Würzburg, West Germany, in 1974, yielded 16 and 9 species of larval parasites, respectively. The following parasites were recovered: Braconidae—Apanteles liparidis (Bouché), Apanteles melanoscelus (Ratzeburg), Apanteles porthetriae Muesebeck, Meteorus pulchricornis (Wesmael); Ichneumonidae—Casinaria tenuiventris (Gravenhorst), Hyposoter tricoloripes (Viereck), Phobocampe unicincta (Gravenhorst), Phobocampe sp.; Tachinidae— Blepharipa pratensis (Meigen), Blondelia nigripes (Fallén). Carcelia separata (Rondani), Compsilura concinnata (Meigen), Parasetigena silvestris (Robineau-desvoidy), Peribaea tibialis (Robineau-desvoidy), Siphona samarensis (Villeneuve); and Mermithidae-Hexamermis sp. nr. albicans Siebold. No single species in this parasite complex was dominant at all localities. The relative importance of the component species varied, sometimes substantially, depending upon the habitat or the phase of the host gradation.
