Abstract
The lift on a strongly non-spherical vesicle in a bounded shear flow, is studied. The analysis is restricted to the case of a membrane moving with a velocity, which is a linear function of the coordinates. This allows the derivation of quasi-analytic, non-perturbative results; the magnitude of the lift is calculated as a function of the axes lengths, and of the ratio of the cell to the solvent viscosity.
