Abstract
The application of new excavating methods have now enabled us to retrieve small bladelets in sieves : known as Dufour bladelets. These are systematically connected with carenated pieces (including "burins busqués", carenated burins, carenated end- scrapers, nosed endscrapers and shouldered endscrapers). The above mentioned are often regarded as tools despite the fact that many authors (Delporte, 1964, 1968, Sonneville-Bordes, 1963, Bordes, 1968, Tixier and Inizan, 1981, Mellars and Tixier, 1989, Rigaud, 1993, Schmider and Perpère, 1995) have advanced a few theories to classify them among core bladelets. The aim of this study is to answer different questions such as : what are the different types of bladelets productions under the Aurignacian ? Do the carenated pieces fall into the category of core Dufour bladelets ? Has there been a selective choice of unre- touched bladelets to make Dufour bladelets ? Could we infer that the aurignacian bladelets production is homogenous ? Adapted analytic grids have been designed to solve these different points but it remains that the technological definition of Dufour bladelets has to be revised before any further analysis is carried out. The comparaison of selective data leads to the determination of two different bladelets productions : the burin method and the end- scraper method, that were to be replaced by the global processing sequence under Aurignacian.L'application de méthodes de fouille modernes permet à présent de retrouver plus systématiquement des petites lamelles retouchées dans les refus de tamis : les lamelles Dufour.
