Abstract
The relatively new acaricide K-1875 was tested against 5 spp. of citrus mites. Certain formulations gave as effective control of Paratetranychus citri as petroleum oil sprays. Wettable powders of K-1875 were as effective as emulsive preparations, but, dusts were relatively ineffective. As the amount of K-1875 applied per acre to Valencia orange trees was increased from 4 to 6, 8, 10, and 12 lbs. per acre, the residual toxicity and effectiveness of the acaricide were increased. In lab. and field expts. high temps, increased the rate at which K-1875 deposits lost their toxicity. K-1875 was effective only under restricted conditions to Tetranvchus sexmaculatus and T. lewisi; and was ineffective against Aceria sheldoni and Phyllocoptruta oleivora. Plant injury was not observed except at unnecessarily high dosages.
