Effects of Abscisin II and Other Plant Growth Substances on Germination of Seeds with Stratification Requirements

Abstract
Abscisin II inhibits germination, leaf growth and chlorophyll synthesis in excised embryos of ash seeds. Gibberellins A3 and A1 reverse the inhibition of germination of excised embryos but are less effective in overcoming the effects of abscisin II on leaf development. Partial restoration of leaf growth and chlorophyll synthesis is obtained when kinetin is added to embryos that were treated with abscisin II and gibberellin A3.
