Abstract
The polarity of compounds that can be separated by packed column supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC) can be extended to include mono-, di-, and trihydroxybenzoic acids without derivatization. The separations are accomplished by adding very polar additives like citric acid and trifluoroacetic acid to a modified mobile phase. Separations obtained using very polar additives are up to 10 times faster than those typically obtained with polymer-based ion exchange columns and an aqueous mobile phase. Keywords
