Abstract
An x‐ray determination of crystallinity of polyethylene has been carried out. The emphasis in this investigation has been on setting up an experimental procedure which is both theoretically sound and experimentally feasible. It has been shown that the per cent crystallinity is best determined by determining the percentage of amorphous material and subtracting this from one hundred. The importance of monochromatization has been discussed, as well as the need for various corrections arising from incoherent scattering, absorption of x‐rays, and sample expansion. A few numerical results are reported. Keywords
